Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct
The Certified Automotive Appraisers Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct provides specific guidelines for their professional conduct. These principles are also intended to inform the general public, the business community and governmental agencies of these standards. Public confidence in the honesty, integrity, professionalism and ability of the Certified Automotive Appraiser is fundamental to the success of the governing bodies. All Certified Automotive Appraisers are required to conduct themselves in such a manner that the image of the automotive appraisal professional is enhanced. All Certified Automotive Appraisers are required to subscribe to the basic belief of treating others as they would like to be treated.
It is a requirement that all Certified Automotive Appraisers within the governing body, shall comply with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. Lack of knowledge of the Code of Ethics shall not be accepted as an excuse for not acting in compliance with this Code of Ethics. The laws and government regulations of the country, state, or region, in which the Certified Automotive Appraiser is practicing, supercede the Code of Ethics.
The main "Automotive Appraisers Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct" is listed in the Uniform Standards For Automotive Appraisal Procedures (USAAP), issued by the International Automotive Appraisers Association as submitted to the Appraisal Standards Board.
